Your grid
Credits per keyword
81 pins, about 16 square miles for a square grid. A circle leaves out the corners.
The sum
Pins = size × size, and each pin costs one credit for each keyword. The grid reaches (size − 1) × spacing from side to side. Starting points by kind of business are in the guide to grid size and spacing; the cost of your whole book is in the credit calculator.

Questions
The pins sit at the edges, so a square grid covers (size − 1) × spacing from side to side. A 9×9 grid 0.5 mi apart covers 4 miles.
One per pin for each keyword: a 7×7 grid uses 49, a 9×9 grid 81 and a 13×13 grid 169.
A circle leaves out the corners, so it uses fewer pins for the same width.
